    Final Project
So we showed our final project in lab today. It was pretty... ghetto. I hope it gets a "A", like the rest of our ghetto projects. Because ghetto doesn't always mean bad, sometimes it means rad. One last paper and then I can officially cleanse my life of this class. Hurrah, I say, hurrah. I'm so glad I got to hang out with cool chicks like Mary and Erin during this class, unfortunately, I did not receive any phone numbers. :( I need to step up my game. But anyways, I'm off topic now, so I will conclude with.... I can't wait for Journalism 151.

    Latest Project
So we work really hard to complete our first video project on time, and we get to class and find out that we're supposed to just "hold on to it" for two more weeks? Why not just grant us an extension? I much rather would've done a good job over a weekend then cramming it in on the last possible day. Oh well, on to the next project...

    Interview and Philly Story
I am very happy with our interview grade. After such harsh criticism, it was a relief to see a good grade. I suppose the criticism of our assignment will all be for the best, then. Our philly story is finished, and WAS finished before the extension, and i don't intend on changing anything about it now. BOOYAH

    Philly Story
We have an awesome new idea for a story, and it quite possibly could kick your stories ass. Boo-yah.

    Interview
I was somewhat less than pleased with the critique of our interview. Yeah, we focused a lot on style and dramatics, but we had lots of excellent content that I believe was completely overlooked. Our interview contained everything that the syllabus required of it, so I don't think that "failure" was the best word to describe it. I think I felt a little dip in my self-esteem.

My Tip Sheet for October 7, 2005
    1. The Temple chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is starting up again after a several year hiatus. The Society of Professional Journalists, or Sigma Delta Chi, is an organization dedicated to improving and protecting journalism.
Sources: Cheryl Ellis, student leader of the SPJ
Dr. Eveslage, interim advisor for the group
Susan Jacobson, professor and former SPJ member

    2. The student center has a new addition, which includes a movie theater and a game room. Some angles that could be taken on this story would be an in-depth look to everything the new center actually offers students, or a look at how it’s changing the things that students do in their spare time.
Sources: Students outside of the center
Administrators and workers inside the building

    3. After hearing that guy speak in class the other day from traffic.com, a good story might be on how it’s expanding to 15 new cities, and what kind of jobs and internships it’s going to open up for students in the Philadelphia area.
    Sources: The speaker from class
    Other administrators at traffic.com

    4. The freshman class is expanding each year, and forcing more and more upper classmen out of campus housing. A good story might be to find out what will happen as the freshmen classes keep expanding, and to see if Temple has any plans to provide more housing, or just keep sending its students into the city on their own.
    Sources: Temple University Housing
    Freshman Student Government

    5. The New Orleans evacuees have been at the Wannamaker high school for a while now, a good story might be to see how they’re adjusting, and if they plan on returning to New Orleans in the near future.
    Sources: Red Cross Association
    Administrators of Wannamaker High School

    6. Two Piece Parlor is a band from back where I live, and I think they’re on their way up to the top. They’re trying to get more shows in Philly to promote their newest album Rerun Revolution, and establish an expanded fan base.
Sources: Josh Buckwalter, lead singer and guitar player
Fenarrios, a venue in West Chester that’s been promoting their music from the beginning.

    Soundscape
Yeah, our soundscape project wasn't that much of a problem in terms of scheduling (why is that guys??? ;D) but i can definitely see trying to get multiple people with equipment together at the same time being....difficult. i'll guess we'll just have to roll with it and see what happens

    Finished Soundscape...
i finished up the soundscape project today with that dinosaur of a cassette recorder. the quality's terrible, but the standards can't be too high with such poor equipment right? i guess we'll see...

    About Me
Well, it looks like everyone's putting a little bit about themselves in their Livejournal, so here goes. My name's Adam Ford, I'm a sophomore/broadcast journalism major, and I like to read, write, and play the guitar. I hope to have a good enough job someday to be able to provide for myself.

    First Equipment Checkout
Checked out this monster Cassette Recorder (does anyone use cassettes anymore?) from the Equipment office. The process was surprisingly non-painful. Now if gods be with us, the thing will actually work.
